Summer/Winter Break Class

Driver Education Instruction and Driving in 10 days to 20 days (Depending on class size)
Driving requirement will be completed over Summer/Winter Break (weather permitting)
Class time is 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM each scheduled day.
Driving requirement will be completed in the 2 to 3 week period (Depending on class size)
Driving schedules will be worked out during the first class.
Registration Fee: $400.00
Classes held at: The Travelodge Hotel, 2216 N. Dodge St., Iowa City

  • 30 hours of classroom instruction
  • 6 hours of Behind the Wheel instruction
  • 6 hours of In-Car observation
  • Alcohol and Drug Education/Awareness
  • Motorcycle/Bicycle Safety
  • Organ Donation Education

Classroom attendance is required. Classes CANNOT be missed without prior notification and/or approval from Mr. Nelson. Make-up sessions are allowed for up to two missed classes. Make-up classes are allowed only for excused absences. Unexcused absences will result in the student being dropped from the class.

Competency on all tests must be above 70%. If a score is below 70%, the student will be required to write the review questions at the end of the chapter. A re-take test will be given. Please inform Mr. Nelson if any special accommodations are needed for test taking.

Missed Driving times, have NO scheduled make-up dates. The student is responsible for trading driving times with another student if there is a schedule conflict. Mr. Nelson must be notified of the switch (agreed by both students) PRIOR to the driving session.

Missed driving times may result in termination of the contract at Mr. Nelson’s discretion. If a driving time is missed, a charge of $35.00 per session (30 minute driving period) will be collected. The make-up driving session will be arranged when Mr. Nelson’s schedule allows.

Students will reimburse the school for any lost or damaged materials. No smoking is allowed during classroom or driving sessions. Use of appropriate language which is not offensive to others, will be required.

Swearing is unacceptable, and will result in termination of the contract.
